Data transfer, development and graphic data

From the file, through the film, to the screen or tampon, and then to your product. Everything from one source at rio-Ballfabrik in Gelsenkirchen.

General information about the printing process

To expose printing plates, negative films are first required. Each color used requires a separate film. The printing plates are then used to produce cliché rubbers which are used in rotary printing presses for printing on our advertising balls, promotion balls. The balls can be printed up to a maximum of 4 colors in the colors of your choice.

screen printing
Screen printing is one of the oldest printing methods. Screen-printed products are characterized by high resistance - UV light, weathering and abrasion can not harm them. In addition there is the strong color radiance, which does not disappear even after long use. It is an equally versatile and reliable system to make your products shine in the brightest colors.

In the screen printing process, a sieve made of a fine fabric is stretched into a frame. In this screen, the fabric is closed by means of a film by a phototechnical exposure in certain areas, so that at these points no color passes through the screen on the object to be printed. The paint is then pressed through the wire with a rubber lip, the so-called squeegee.

Pad printing process

Pad printing is the method of choice if you want to print "shapeless" products (balls) in 3d. Here, a highly elastic tampon is placed around your product, which then absorbs like a large punch color and transfers to your product. This makes the process ideal for our production at the Rio Ball Factory.

The low cost of tampon printing is nowadays indispensable in the field of advertising and is characterized by high flexibility.

Reproducible print templates

The template should be provided at a scale of 1: 1 or larger in a high resolution (from approx. 300 dpi). When using standard fonts, please provide the exact name of the respective font. By attaching brochures, etc., the desired appearance of the printed object can be better illustrated.

Reproducible templates are:

  • computer graphics
  • Films (negative or positive, separated by color)
  • Reinzeichnngen

Example to create a printable artwork

  • In your graphics program, create a new file with the size of the desired format, e.g. 190x60mm.
  • Set the resolution to 300 dpi and change the color mode to CMYK.
  • First, set the desired background color or background image (here 190x60mm).
  • Now you can place your content like logo and text.
  • Check the settings for resolution, color mode and quality again.

Computer graphics:

The following graphic formats can be edited with our DTP system:
Printable PDF and vector graphics created with CorelDraw or Illustrator.

In most cases, we can use your computer graphics as a print template to print on your balls.
For a quick order processing we need the following documents:

  • The computer graphics in the original format with color separation and in character paths (paths or paths) converted fonts, so that each color part is present individually and in black.
  • Computer graphics in at least one alternative format: e.g. EPS, PDF.
  • The resolution of the images must be at least 300 dpi, which of string drawing (bitmap) is 1200 dpi at original size.
